Years ago at Studio City Sound in L.A., while recording the Tony Galla version of My America, a choir of Nuns recorded an album in an adjacent studio. In the break room, I chatted with a couple of the Sisters. One of them asked (about My America) “What do you want to do with it?” The query seemed to emanate from the face of a Pre-Raphaelite angel. Her openness and sincerity demanded a no-BS answer. Without thinking, I blurted, “I want it to be a soundtrack for civics projects in middle and high schools.” Well now, that just popped out of my mouth. First time I even thought such a thing. It was true then and it is true now. Upon reflection, I realized all ages may enjoy expressing their American patriotism. So here are two crowdsource questions: 1. Do you know a teacher who may be interested in using My America for a civics project? 2. How do I make the two versions of My America (either the whole song or parts of the song) available for YT videos, media shorts, IG posts or any other media? I’ve tried to figure this out on my own, but it just makes my brain spin out. Thank you in advance. Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. __________________________________________________________________________ PS I am motivated by the desire to find the common good in all of us. I can't help you with your specific objective here, but I can sense, and I appreciate your attempts to find middle ways to unite fractures of perspective and politics. I think this is possible, and we can all try to help in our own way.
Hi Helen,
I'm not sure about how to do that on all the platforms you mentioned. On Instagram, you can include original audio on a reel and upload it to Instagram. I'm pretty sure that doing this allows others to access it and use it, but I don't know all the ins and outs of that. Here's a link if you'd like to investigate further: https://help.instagram.com/329208821595430?helpref=faq_content Instagram audio for reels FAQ
Off topic, I also wanted to say thank you so much for your kind words about my crochet skull pattern, and for restacking my post and subscribing to my newsletter. I really appreciate it!
